Quiet Waters Pork

All Quiet waters pork is from our herd of Traditional breed Pigs which have been carefully raised in our woods and meadows, foraging for wild food and living as natural a life as possible. This is an age old system known as ‘pannage’ which is now being rediscovered as an effective form of coppiced woodland and Culm grassland management that not only provides the pigs with a healthy and varied wild food diet but also encourages increased biodiversity through the clearing of the undergrowth and the promotion of native species of woodland flowers and herbs. Each sow has far more space to roam than even the most stringent welfare or organic standards. Our policy is to go beyond simple labels such as ‘organic’, or ‘high welfare’, to produce food raised within a farming system that is both natural and transparent in its practice that allows our customers to have a true confidence in the food we supply them, and are always happy to discuss or explain our methods with anyone who is interested. We are more concerned that they grow happily and healthily than that they are ‘hurried’ in any way and we feel this patience is rewarded in the flavour of our meats. All of our pigs, like our land, are completely free from the use of antibiotics, pesticides or other chemical treatments, so you can rest assured that all our meat is just as nature intended it to be. Whilst most traditional breeds of pig tend to have a proportion of a good healthy fat, which has stored the all important vitamins, minerals and trace elements that our type of farming system provides, we keep this within reasonable levels through the exercise associated with our woodland foraging system, the largely fresh food diet and by allowing weight to be achieved gradually rather than forced on with concentrated meal. Choose from a range of products that we keep in stock, blast frozen for extra freshness and delivered by ‘next day’ courier anywhere in the UK mainland. Please note that our Pork Box weights are for boned, rolled or prepared meat joints that you actually receive, unlike many similar offers, as a result of this, our Quarter Pig Box contains nearly as much meat as many Half Pig Boxes advertised elsewhere, but at considerably less cost.
